Hi, I'm Thor

I grew up in a family of teachers, where using your skills to help others was simply expected. My father taught me to be curious and analytical through science. My mother taught me to be creative through art. Design turned out to be the place where those two sides meet.

Over the past 11 years, I’ve designed everything from consumer apps to enterprise analytics tools. Most recently, I led UX on a retail assortment tool built from scratch, taking it from early concepts through user testing, development, and an on-site discovery workshop with the client’s teams. I’m happiest on problems that look messy at first: complex workflows, dense information, and teams with competing priorities.

Like good teaching, good design starts with understanding. I’d rather watch someone do their job, whether that’s in a store aisle, a spreadsheet, or a planning meeting, than design from assumptions. From there, I work closely with product and engineering to make sure what we learn actually makes it into the product.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me running, biking, practicing yoga, or brewing some beer.
